Job Description:

The Operational Lead – Quality Assurance is responsible for defining, implementing, and enforcing quality standards across all site deployments in Kenya. The role ensures that installations meet required technical, safety, and acceptance standards, with a strong focus on auditability, compliance, and right-first-time delivery across fibre, power, poles, and CCTV infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

QA Standards & Checklists

  • Define, implement, and maintain installation QA checklists per asset type, including:
    • Overview cameras
    • PTZ cameras
    • ANPR cameras
  • Establish clear commissioning, testing, and acceptance criteria, including mandatory evidence requirements.
  • Enforce a strict no evidence, no acceptance quality control principle across all deployments.
  • Continuously review and improve QA standards based on field feedback, defects, and audit findings.

Site Quality Inspections

  • Conduct field-based quality inspections and audits across active and completed sites.
  • Assess installations against defined build standards and safety requirements aligned to applicable regulatory bodies.
  • Validate key installation components, including:
    • Workmanship quality
    • Mounting and structural integrity
    • Earthing and grounding
    • Labelling and asset identification
    • Weatherproofing and environmental protection
    • Camera positioning and alignment
  • Verify test results and supporting evidence, including:
    • Power and electrical compliance
    • Network link performance
    • Image quality and system functionality

Acceptance & Rework Control

  • Review and approve or reject site handover packages for activation readiness.
  • Log and categorise defects by type, severity, and root cause.
  • Track rework cycles, including turnaround time and closure rates.
  • Monitor and report on contractor quality performance, identifying trends and enforcing corrective actions.

Audit & Compliance Pack Management

  • Maintain a comprehensive QA audit trail to support acceptance and dispute resolution.
  • Prepare and consolidate acceptance summaries by:
    • Cluster / region
    • Contractor / vendor
  • Support internal and external audits, including independent verification and inspections.
  • Ensure all QA documentation is complete, accurate, and readily accessible for governance and compliance purposes.

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure compliance with applicable Kenyan legislation and standards including but not limited to:
    • Employment Act 2007
    • Occupational Health & Safety requirements
    • Telecommunications and infrastructure regulations
  • Ensure adherence to internal quality management systems, governance frameworks, and contractual obligations.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • First-time acceptance rate (QA pass rate)
  • Rework frequency and cycle time
  • Defect density and root cause trends
  • Audit compliance and documentation completeness
  • Contractor quality performance scores
  • Reduction in repeat defects and quality issues

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Quality Management, or related field
  • Minimum 4–7 years' experience in QA, inspections, or field engineering within telecoms or infrastructure environments
  • Proven experience in CCTV, fibre, or network deployment quality assurance
  • Experience working within Kenya or East African markets (preferred)
