Job Description:

The Network Engineer is responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and scalability of our client's data networks. This role plays a critical part in maintaining reliable network operations while supporting growth and optimisation within budget constraints.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure, manage, and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Monitor network performance, proactively identify issues, and resolve connectivity and performance problems.
  • Implement, enforce, and maintain network security protocols and policies.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation, including configurations, diagrams, and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate with internal IT teams to support infrastructure projects and resolve escalated technical issues.
  • Perform firmware upgrades, patching, and lifecycle maintenance of network hardware.
  • Manage IP address allocation, as well as DNS and DHCP services.
  • Ensure network high availability and contribute to disaster recovery planning and readiness.
  • Support and mentor junior team members to build technical capability within the team.
  • Ensure strict adherence to change control processes and governance standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in network infrastructure and operations.
  • Experience working with Fibre Network Operators (FNOs) and Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) is advantageous.
  • Degree, diploma, and/or relevant vendor certifications (e.g. Cisco, Huawei, Arista).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Solid understanding of video traffic management across data networks is beneficial.

Systems & Technical Proficiency

  • Experience with Network Monitoring Systems (e.g. Zabbix).
  • Exposure to Huawei networking equipment is advantageous.
  • Exposure to Arista networking equipment is advantageous.
