After-Sales Technical Service
Job Description:
Due to continued growth and expansion across Africa, we are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to join our team in a newly created role. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the setup and growth of a new production facility while developing into a future leadership role within the business.
Successful candidates will receive initial training at our Port Elizabeth production facility from 1 August before supporting operations at our new Lanseria site.
This role combines engineering, maintenance, production support, customer engagement, and regional travel, making it ideal for an individual who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and career progression.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Facility Support
- Assist with the setup and commissioning of warehouse and production operations at the new Lanseria facility.
- Support small-scale production activities and ensure operational efficiency.
- Assist in implementing best practices for production, maintenance, and warehouse operations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives as the facility grows.
Maintenance & Technical Support
- Perform preventative and scheduled maintenance on equipment and systems.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical and operational breakdowns.
- Provide hands-on troubleshooting and fault-finding support.
- Deliver remote technical support to customers and field teams when required.
- Maintain accurate service, maintenance, and repair records.
Field Service & Customer Support
- Provide professional technical support to customers across various industries.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships through exceptional service delivery.
- Conduct site visits, inspections, installations, and commissioning activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve customer operations and recommend suitable solutions and services.
- Act as a trusted technical advisor while maintaining a customer-centric approach.
Regional Travel
- Travel regularly throughout South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa to support customers, installations, maintenance activities, and operational requirements.
- Represent the company professionally during customer engagements and site visits.
Leadership & Growth
- Support the company's expansion strategy through operational excellence and technical expertise.
- Assist in developing processes and standards for the growing operation.
- Demonstrate leadership potential and contribute to team development initiatives.
- Progress into increased leadership and management responsibilities as the business continues to expand.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Mechanical Engineering qualification, Trade Qualification, or equivalent technical certification.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with practical troubleshooting and fault-finding experience.
Experience
- Experience in maintenance, production, manufacturing, field service, or industrial environments.
- Proven experience with preventative maintenance programs and breakdown response.
- Experience interacting directly with customers in a technical capacity.
- Exposure to warehouse, production, manufacturing, or plant operations will be advantageous.
